In Contra Costa County, a man is killed by a bull, and first responders are threatened.
According to officials, a rancher was killed by a bull Thursday in rural Contra Costa County, and sheriff's deputies fatally shot the bull after it threatened first responders.
According to Steve Aubert, a fire marshal public information officer with the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District, Contra Costa County sheriff's deputies, firefighters, and an animal control officer were called to a ranch near Bixler Road between Byron and Discovery Bay shortly before 3 p.m. after a report of an unresponsive rancher lying in a field.
